WBA Lightweight Belt Holder Dmitry Bivol and Tokyo Olympic champion Albert Batyrgaziev recognized by the Russian Boxing Federation as the best athletes of the past two years.
The solemn part took place on Thursday in Serpukhov within the framework of the third All-Russian Boxing Forum. In the context of the pandemic, the last time the forum was held in February 2020, therefore, when determining the best in many categories, the achievements of the last two years were taken into account.
Batyrgaziev in 2021 in Tokyo won the gold of the Games in the weight up to 57 kg. Currently, the 24-year-old athlete is focused on professional boxing. On February 4, Batyrgaziev in Serpukhov will hold his eighth professional fight against former WBA champion Jezreel Corrales.
Bivol in 2022 beat Mexicans Saul Alvarez and Gilberto Ramirez.
2020 Olympics bronze medalist Zenfira Magomedalieva has been recognized as the best female boxer.
The best trainers in Olympic boxing were Ruslan Kushtanov, Rashidbek Akhmedov, Nuripasha Talibov and, in professional boxing, Bivol’s trainer Gennady Mashyanov.
Specialists received cash certificates in the amount of 25 million rubles, but these funds will be used to build their halls.
