Promoter Eddie Hearn in an interview iFLTV YouTube Channel said that the next opponent of the Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol who holds the WBA light heavyweight title, could be a Briton Joshua Buatsy .
Bivol defeated Saul Alvarez of Mexico by unanimous decision in May to defend his championship belt. Alvarez has previously said he wants a rematch with the Russian, but is planning a third fight against Kazakh Gennady Golovkin in September.
The rematch with Alvarez is by far Bivol’s biggest fight financially, but he also wants to try and unify the belts and become the undisputed light heavyweight champion. The fight we would like to have for Bivol is the fight with Joshua Buatsi. We would love to have this fight in September or October,” Hearn said.
The promoter has not ruled out that the fight between Bivol and Buatsi could take place in the UK.
