President of the International Wrestling Federation (United World Wrestling) Nenad Lalovich noted that athletes cannot be excluded from participation in competitions solely because of their citizenship.
Earlier, the IOC published an updated position regarding the admission of Russian athletes to participate in international competitions, in which it noted that it would consider the possibility of admitting to international departures in a neutral status Russian athletes and Belarusians who did not actively support the OSV. In most sports, against the background of the situation in Ukraine, Russian athletes were deprived of the opportunity to participate in international tournaments.
“We cannot ban athletes just because of their passports,” Reuters quoted Lalovich as saying.
