Former undisputed world welterweight champion Konstantin Tszyu explained to MMA.Metaratings.ru why he objects to one of his children fighting in Russia against a local boxer.
– I was lucky that in my time none of our people had to be beaten. Do you understand what the problem is? I lived abroad, and having fought here with a Russian, I would have lost part of my audience. Some of my fans would have cheered him on, that is against me, but it turns out that throughout my career, all the fans in Russia have always cheered me on. For this reason, I don’t want my son to fight the Russians. A number of our audience will cheer against him, and I want all of Russia to cheer for my sons,” Tszyu said.
The son of Konstantin Timofey Tszyu will fight the next fight against American Tony Harrison for the title of interim world champion at the first middleweight according to the World Boxing Organization (WBO) on March 12 in one of the cities of Australia .
