The winner of the bout will be the official contender for the WBC title.

Former World Featherweight and Super Featherweight Champion American Shakur Stevenson will hold on April 8 lightweight debut against an undefeated Japanese Shuichiro Yoshino.

The fight will be the main event of the boxing evening in Newark (USA). The winner of the fight will become the official contender for the WBC title.

“Starting my lightweight run April 8th in Newark. Shuichiro Yoshino is an undefeated fighter who wanted to fight me in the ring when many other fighters were afraid. We will fill the arena again and show the world who the future of boxing really is,” Shakur said.

Shakur Stevenson has previously stated that he would like to fight Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis and Jemaine Ortiz. Stevenson also said that former undisputed world champion George Kambosos could become his first lightweight opponent.
