Fedor Emelianenko no longer holds a punch, he shouldn’t have chosen Ryan Bader as his last opponent, believes boxer Magomed Kurbanov.
On Saturday, Emelianenko lost ahead of schedule to American Ryan Bader in a duel for the world heavyweight championship belt at the Bellator 290 tournament in the United States. The fight ended with a technical knockout in the first round and then the Russian officially announced his retirement.
Fedor is no longer the same. Fedor doesn’t hit like that anymore, doesn’t hold a shot like that anymore. Already not these conditions. And getting revenge on Ryan wasn’t worth it to end his career. It was possible to take someone else, easier, win and leave. And there would be an example for the younger generation, an example for all athletes who follow in his footsteps and want to achieve great results. For me personally, it was a shame, yes. As sad as when Roy Jones lost. And when Roy Jones and Tyson fought, I felt uncomfortable. I take these things seriously, you shouldn’t have done such things when you have done everything and want to prove something else,” Kurbanov told The Championship.
Emelianenko has 40 wins with seven losses, one more fight was declared invalid.
