Double Olympic boxing champion Alexei Tishchenko commenting on the farewell fight Fedor Emelianenko with an American ryan bader noted that the best years of the Russian fighter are already behind.
On Saturday, Emelianenko lost ahead of schedule to American Ryan Bader in a duel for the world heavyweight championship belt at the Bellator 290 tournament in the United States. The fight ended with a technical knockout in the first round and then the Russian officially announced his retirement.
– I want to say that there is a time for everything, and of course it is inexorable and ruthless for sportsmen. It had long been clear that Emelianenko’s best years were behind us, as we saw in the performances. It was clear that he was far from the champion who crushed everyone before,” Tishchenko told Vprognoze.ru.
Emelianenko has 40 wins with seven losses, one more fight was declared invalid.
