Devin hints at fight with Teofimo
Undisputed World Lightweight Champion Devin Haney said that the ex-absolute champion in this division Teofimo Lopez must make the right choice when determining the next opponent.
At the same time, Devin hinted at a willingness to fight Lopez in the light welterweight division. For the sake of this fight, Haney is ready to move to the weight category with Lopez.
“I can move up to 63.5kg to beat you. Remember that you chose Kambosos, who kicked your ass instead of me. You chose a different path and it almost cost you your life. You have to be able to make smart choices.”
Lopez defeated Spaniard Sandor Martin in the last fight and won the WBO light welterweight title. Teofimo was even knocked down in the second round, but eventually managed to win by split decision.
Lopez also stated that he intends to win the undisputed welterweight title before the end of 2023.
In his last fight, Haney re-defeated George Kambosos and retained the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles. In May 2023, Haney plans a fight against the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko.
