On February 4, on the Bellator 290 show, Emelianenko lost to an American ryan bader (31 wins, 7 losses) by TKO in the first round and failed to win the Bellator heavyweight belt. Immediately after the fight, the 46-year-old Russian (40 wins, 7 losses) announced his retirement.

The athlete returned to Russia on the morning of February 7 at around 04:30 Moscow time. Emelianenko declined to give an interview to upon his arrival, asking to postpone the conversation to another day. Emelianenko was accompanied by team fighters Fedor Vadim Nemkov, Anatoly and Vladimir Tokov and Nikita Mikhailov. Also at the airport, Fedor was met by friends and Edgar Zapashny, who previously untied the fighter.
Emelianenko’s career in professional MMA spanned 22 years and 8 months. The fighter was a Rings, Pride and WAMMA champion.
