WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury could replace Oleksandr Usyk with an MMA fighter.
Tyson Fury continues to hint at a possible replacement for Oleksandr Usyk. This time, the WBC heavyweight title holder revealed that he may opt out of the undisputed world champion title fight and instead hold exhibition fights with MMA fighter Francis Ngannou.
“I’ve made an official offer to Francis Ngannou. It’s on his desk. I want to offer him two fights – one in the ring and one in the cage.
If Usyk refuses to fight, I’m pushing for a match with Ngannou. On the other hand, I never said that I would fight him in the boxing ring. I always talk about the cage, so let’s do it.
In the boxing ring, meaningless confrontation. It’s like I’m fighting someone at the local gym – a bodybuilding gym. But anything can happen in a cage with 4-ounce gloves,” Fury told Sportbible.
Having previously learned that Fury would next fight at Wembley on April 29, Usyk was persuaded to agree.
At the same time, the Briton wanted to take most of the money for the fight, which Usyk’s team refused.
