The International Boxing Association offered to provide financial assistance to the athletes.
The International Boxing Association does not want to change its strange decision to admit Russians and Belarusians to the World Championship. Instead, the organization decided to bribe boxers from countries that decided to boycott the competition in protest.
IBA Secretary General and Executive Director George Yerolimpos wrote an open letter in which he expressed confidence that the boxers themselves really want to enter the ring against the representatives of the aggressor countries, and invited the boxers to participate in tournament individually. In return, IBA will give them “financial assistance.”
“Confusion and misinformation within these national federations has led to a constant stream of complaints from athletes, coaches, technical officials and administrators who do not support this decision and need immediate support to ensure attendance them in these events.
The IBA declared their full readiness to do everything possible, including financial assistance, to ensure that all the boycotting athletes of the National Federation can fight for glory and fulfill their dream of becoming a world champion. Any athlete or coach of the boycotted national federation who wishes to participate, as this is an open event, can register directly for the World Boxing Championships.
It will be remembered that the world boxing championship among women will be held from 15 to 26 March in New Delhi, India, and then from 1 to 14 May in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the world championship among men will be held.
Earlier, Canada, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Sweden, the United States and the United Kingdom announced a boycott of the World Championships.
