Another country decided to boycott the world championship in protest against the actions of the IBA leadership.
The list of countries planning to boycott the World Boxing Championship has been filled by another representative.
The Polish Boxing Association has announced that it will not go to the men’s and women’s championships. The reason is standard – entry into competitions under the auspices of IBA by Russians and Belarusians.
“We were one of the first sports associations that, after the start of the war in Ukraine, decided that we would not compete in competitions in which Russians and Belarusians would participate.
Since then, we have not adopted a new resolution, so the old one remains in force.
We are consistent in our actions,” Maciej Demel, Vice President of the Polish Boxing Association, was quoted by Sport.pl as saying.
It will be remembered that the women’s boxing world championship will be held from 15 to 31 March in India, the men’s – from 1 to 14 May in Uzbekistan. Earlier, the Czech Republic, the United States and Ireland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden and the Netherlands also announced a boycott of the competition.
Fearing to remain in the championship with only Russians and Belarusians, IBA began to attract boxers from countries boycotting the tournament with money.
