Tony Bellew assesses the strength of the opponents in a potential fight for the title of absolute world champion.
The authoritative British boxing veteran Tony Bellew shares his opinion about the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
According to the Ukrainian’s former rival, the Brit’s current style is a perfect fit for Usyk.
“I thought Fury was too big for Usyk, but now Tyson has changed his style – he is an aggressive counterpuncher with power. This style, the format in which he fights now, plays more with the hands by Usyk.
So whoever can beat Fury, I think it’s Usyk. Alexander is very good at what he does. Only Usyk would make Fury last and make it pay 12 rounds.
The question is whether Usyk can contain Tyson. This is very important. He’s good enough, he’s got incredible footwork. Unfortunately, I know this from personal experience. He was an extraordinary fighter, it really was. So it will be interesting to see them fight,” Bellew said in an interview with YouTube channel iFL TV.
Note that the title fight is likely to take place in April in the UK.
In the past, Fury has speculated on the possibility of fighting Joshua instead of the Ukrainian.
