Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion at Russian lightweight Islam Makhachev said his mother was trying to convince him to end his career in mixed martial arts, noting that during fights she would walk around.
In February, Makhachev defeated Australian Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision and defended the UFC lightweight belt. The fight took place at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia.
– My mother and I have been talking about (retirement) for a long time, since I won the world championship in combat sambo. Then she said that I will not receive an Olympic medal in this sport (combat sambo is not included in the Olympic program – approximately). Now she says, “I won the championship belt, enough is enough.” He cites the example of Khabib, who obeyed his mother. I answer that he defended the title three times, I still have to defend. Mom doesn’t watch the fights and walks around during the fights.
