Haney: I had a good fight. Kambosos couldn’t hit me with a single punch

Devin became the undisputed world lightweight champion

Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) commented on his victory over George Kambosos (20-1, 10 KOs) in the fight for the title of absolute world champion in lightweight.

“I felt comfortable. I stuck to the game plan. It was about hitting and not conceding. I did this for most of the fight. I slowed down in the last round because I knew that I was confidently leading, but I had a good, competent fight, ”admitted Haney.

“I deprived Kambosos of his best qualities. He wanted to land an overhand right and a powerful left hook, but he couldn’t hit me with any of those punches.”

“I take my hat off to him, he is a real warrior. I respect anyone who enters the ring. During the promotion of the fight, there was nothing but respect. Even though he treated me disrespectfully, I maintained respect. I want to thank George Kambosos and all of Australia.”

Thank you George for giving me this chance. Many so-called champions would not give it to me. George was a true champion and gave me this chance.”

Haney, 23, defeated Kambosos via unanimous decision. The American took away the WBA, WBO and IBF championship belts from the Australian, adding them to the collection to his WBC title.
