Athletistic/ MMA. Russian mixed martial arts fighter Fedor Emelianenko has commented on former UFC fighter, and now Eagle FC promotion chief Khabib Nurmagomedov’s idea of staging a fight between Emelianenko and the Brazilian fighter Junior dos Santos.
“No one from Khabib’s team came to me or my team. A meeting was scheduled with Scott Cocker (the head of the Bellator promotion, under whose auspices Emelianenko acts – about Athletistic), but, as I understand it, Scott and I are not interested in the fight with Junior dos Santos. First of all, because of the latter’s loss,” Emelianenko said.
Junior dos Santos had his last fight to date on May 20, 2022 with Cape Verdean fighter Yorgan De Castro, which he lost by technical knockout in the third round. The fight was stopped due to dos Santos’ shoulder injury. Junior has 21 wins, 10 losses and 0 draws in professional MMA.
Fedor Emelianenko last fought in the octagon on October 23, 2021 with American Timothy Johnson, whom he beat by knockout in the first round. Emelianenko’s statistics in mixed martial arts – 40 wins, 6 losses, 0 draws, 1 missed fight.
