Arum: Klimas thinks Lomachenko is ready to go out and fight for the title

The Ukrainian can meet with the winner of the fight Kambosos – Haney

Promoter Bob Arum hopes that Vasily Lomachenko in the near future will be able to compete for the title of world champion in lightweight.

The 34-year-old Ukrainian can become the next opponent of the boxer, who will defeat George Kambosos and Devin Haney for the title of absolute world champion.

“For me, Lomachenko is the gold standard in lightweight. [Менеджер украинца] Egis Klimas believes that Lomachenko is ready to get out if there is a chance to fight for the championship,” Arum said.

“Unfortunately, he is in Ukraine and fighting for his country, but we could not get him out. Hope we can arrange it. I would like Lomachenko to fight Kambosos or Haney for the championship belt.”

“His city is located 10 kilometers from Odessa, there was no heavy shelling. But again, Lomachenko is in uniform and doing his part to protect the country from Russian aggression.”

Earlier it became known that Lomachenko had an agreement to conduct a fight with Kambosos before the start of a full-scale Russian invasion.

Vassily hasn’t fought since last December when he defeated ex-world champion Richard Commey by unanimous decision.

Kambosos and Haney will fight on Sunday, June 5 for the four major lightweight championship belts.
