The Australian lost to the American in the fight for the title of absolute champion
Former Unified Lightweight World Champion George Kambosos disappointed with how his fight turned out against Devina Haney.
In the duel for the title of absolute world champion, Kambosos lost to Haney by unanimous decision of the judges – 116:112, 116:112 and 118:110.
“I felt that after each of my accurate hits, he was shocked, but the referee did not help us in any way with his captures. I’m not taking anything from Haney. He just did what he does: clapped and ran. This is very boring. I wanted to give the audience a great fight, I did my best. As soon as it became difficult for him, he grabbed me. The referee should have warned him. I am not disappointed, but the referee had to do his job, ”Kambosos said.
“I haven’t lost in a long time. But how can I be sad if this guy didn’t want to fight? It wasn’t like he beat me. I’m not shocked at all. I feel like I had a semi-fight – it was boring.”
“I would fight even tomorrow if I could. I needed to beware of his holds. It was necessary to change the angles, be a little sharper. At some points I lost momentum. In any case, I’ll be back. Now I will see who are the real people who were with me for a reason.”
After the first defeat in his career, Kambosos announced his desire to have a rematch with Haney in November.
