#5 UFC Bantamweight: Rob Font vs. Adrian Yanez

The UFC’s bantamweight division is arguably the hottest in the promotion right now. After the big fights in March, April also has a lot to offer MMA fans.

UFC 287 features a big headlining title fight as well as a welterweight bout, but there’s every chance Rob Font vs. Adrian Yanez could steal the show.

These two fighters are not only in the top 15 at bantamweight, but they are also some of the brightest in the division.

Of the two, Janez is probably the hottest right now. Since entering the UFC in 2020, he has been 5-0, defeating all but one of his opponents by knockout. In addition, he received a bonus reward each time he fought.

Font, however, is more proven than his opponent. He has wins over Cody Garbrandt, Marlon Moraes and Ricky Simon, but has lost his last two fights to Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera.

The outcome of this fight will likely hinge on Janez’s ability to handle Font’s growth and gain an edge. Either way, it should be an exciting and interesting fight.

#4 UFC Heavyweight Fight: Curtis Blaydes vs. Sergey Pavlovich

The UFC Fight Night event, which takes place on April 22, will host the heavyweight division’s main event. This fight is so important that there is every chance that the winner will get a title shot in the near future.

Curtis Blaydes will fight Sergey Pavlovich. Given that both fighters have long unbeaten streaks, either could already qualify for a fight with Jon Jones. Unfortunately for them, this place will be taken by Stipe Miocic.

At first glance, the fight is a classic clash between grappler (Blades) and attacker (Pavlovich). But in reality, both fighters are versatile opponents who can wreak havoc wherever the fight takes place.

Although the Russian is in a better position, having won his last five fights, all by knockout, Blades is still considered the favorite.

It’s because he’s probably the best heavyweight fighter right now and it’s hard to shake the memory of Pavlovich’s loss to Alistair Overeem.

Jorge Masvidal will go for his first win since 2019 when he takes on Gilbert Burns. UFC 287 on April 8 will feature a big welterweight clash.

We haven’t seen Jorge Masvidal in action since losing to Colby Covington in 2022, a loss that clearly hurt considering the personal nature of their rivalry.

Despite Joe Rogan recently saying that Masvidal is a better fighter than Georges St-Pierre, it’s safe to say that Jorge has been on the decline lately. In fact, he hasn’t won a single fight since 2019.

And his opponent, Gilbert Burns, appears to be in the best shape of his life.

His only recent losses came at the hands of Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev, and even then he looked decent.

On paper at least, this fight is likely to turn in favor of the Brazilian. He’s a world-class grappler who also has heavy hands.

Given Masvidal’s star status, this fight will be one of the biggest in April.

#2 UFC Featherweight Fight: Max Holloway vs. Arnold Allen

Arnold Allen will face the biggest test of his life in Max Holloway in April.

On April 15, the UFC will travel to Kansas City for the Fight Night event. The main event will see the two best featherweights in the world meet.

For Arnold Allen, this clash with Max Holloway opens up truly enormous opportunities. The British native is still undefeated in the octagon, winning 10 fights in a row. However, he had never defeated such a high level fighter before.

However, if Allen can pull off a victory over Holloway, he will no doubt be ready to challenge the winner of the upcoming title fight between Alex Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, for Holloway, the fight is a chance to once again show that he is still better than any other fighter in the featherweight division except Volkanovski. The Hawaiian has beaten Rodriguez, Calvin Kattar and Frankie Edgar and is still known as one of the promotion’s best forwards.

Since both fighters prefer to stand and punch, this fight could very well become a classic, especially since it’s a five-round fight.

No. 1. UFC Middleweight Title: Alex Pereira vs. Israel Adesanya

Unsurprisingly, the only title fight scheduled for April is also the biggest fight of the month. The middleweight title fight between champion Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya is also one of the biggest fights of 2023.

The rivalry between the two fighters dates back to their days in the kickboxing world, where Pereira was able to defeat Adesanya twice by knocking him out in their 2017 clash.

When Pereira followed Adesanya into the octagon in 2021, few fans would have expected him to rise through the ranks so quickly, but after three fights he immediately faced him in a title shot.

Most people saw this as a way for Adesanya, who had a lot more experience in MMA, to get revenge on the Brazilian. Instead, in an epic showdown, Pereira again stopped Adesanya by taking the belt from him.
