The Lomachenko-Haney fight will take place on May 20 in Las Vegas
Undisputed World Lightweight Champion Devin Haney commented on the fight against the ex-champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
“This is what I have always dreamed of. I’ve wanted this fight since 2019, begged for it, called for it, and the time has finally come. When Lomachenko had the belts, he didn’t want to fight me. But I sincerely believe that I am the best fighter. Four years ago or now, I’ll be the winner. Happy that my time has finally come.”
“For me, it’s a fight for legacy. Loma was once the number one P4P. A few months ago he was higher than me in the rankings. He’s dropping out of the P4P rankings right now, but we know he deserves to be there. This is a fight for belts, for gold, for the title of the best in the division. Possibly the best in the world.”
The Lomachenko-Haney fight will take place on May 20 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden and will be broadcast on PPV on ESPN+.
Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz in his last fight. For the Ukrainian, this was the first and only fight for 10 months.
Haney defeated George Kambosos again last October to retain the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles.
