The promoter of the Ukrainian denied the refusal of the fight with Dubois
Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyksaid that the Ukrainian boxer will not refuse to defend the WBA belt against Daniel Dubois for the fight with Deontay Wilder.
“There is always the possibility that the title will become vacant, but we are not in any negotiations with Wilder. And why should Usyk release the WBA belt? What is the reason for this? Just to avoid a fight with Dubois? But how can you talk about the undisputed title fight if you just throw away the title? No, that’s not an option.”
“Usyk wants to become the undisputed champion. This is our priority. This may require time and some activity in the ring. But it’s still the main goal.”
Recall that Usyk’s fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury was supposed to take place on April 29 at London’s Wembley Stadium. However, last week, representatives of the Ukrainian said they had withdrawn from the negotiation process. According to Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, Fury’s team demanded too much, no matter how much Usyk compromised.
Krasyuk, said that Usyk would soon begin talks about his next fight. Later, information appeared that Usyk was negotiating a fight with Dubois. Dubois has already challenged the Ukrainian.
Wilder has already commented on his potential fight against Usyk. Earlier, a possible fight with Usyk was also commented on by Wilder’s manager, Shelley Finkel.
