Joshua: Lomachenko said I was strong, but I thought it was disrespectful

Anthony suspected a Ukrainian of racism

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua after defeating Jermain Franklin spoke about the former champion in three divisions Vasily Lomachenko. According to the Briton, Vasily spoke unflatteringly about him.

“People may not understand this, but Lomachenko said that I am strong. I thought it was disrespectful, because in football I heard many commentators say that African players are simply strong. They never talk about their talent.

So I felt disrespectful when he said I was strong. As an African, I thought he was trying to belittle me as a workaholic. Here’s how I interpreted it. Because of this, I was a little annoyed. My emotions were very strong. So it was anger towards Usyk’s team. It was disrespectful to me. Don’t say that.”

Tonight in London, Joshua defeated Franklin via unanimous decision. The fight lasted all 12 rounds. All judges gave the victory to Joshua – 118-111 and twice 117-112.

Promoter Eddie Hearn commented on the ex-champion’s victory, stating that Anthony still wants to enter the ring in 2023. Preliminarily, Joshua will box in the summer.
