This was announced during the broadcast of the UFC tournament in San Antonio. The American announced his retirement after losing in the second round to Jim Miller at UFC 276.

Donald Cerrone’s accomplishments in the UFC are unparalleled. So much so that his former rival Conor McGregor once asked to create a championship belt just for him. Cerrone holds the record for most UFC wins with Andrey Arlovsky (23 wins).

Additionally, Cowboy received 18 post-fight bonuses, the most in the promotion tied with former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. Additionally, he is tied with Jim Miller for the second most wins by stoppage in the UFC with 16. Additionally, he has the second most wins in the history of the lightweight division of the UFC (17) and the third most wins by stoppage in the division (10).

In his storied MMA career that spanned more than sixteen years, Cerrone had victories over Charles Oliveira, Edson Barbosa and Benson Henderson. He has decided to end his illustrious career after a seven-fight winless streak. Cerrone’s last victory dates back to 2019, on May 4 he beat Al Iaquinta by unanimous decision. Then Cerrone fought with recognized fighters such as Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Conor Maggregor, Anthony Pettis but lost them all.

If we compare Cerrone to Orlovsky, the American has 14 losses in the promotion, and the Belarusian has 11, but the opponents were not so publicized. However, Orlovsky can still become the sole record holder, and Cerrone has retired.
