“I don’t need to keep playing, but I always try to please the fans” – Roy Jones

Former undisputed light heavyweight champion, ex-champion in four weight classes Roy Jones Jr. after fight with former UFC lightweight belt holder Anthony Pettis told that he doesn’t need to pursue his career, but he always tries to listen to fans’ opinions.

On Sunday night, the 54-year-old Jones, after the eight-round results, lost a split decision to the 36-year-old Pettis in his first professional ring fight. For Jones Jr., this loss was the 11th of his career. He had his last professional fight in 2018, in October 2020 Jones had an exhibition fight with Mike Tyson, in which the winner was not announced.

– Was it your last fight in your career, or do you plan to continue competing?

“I don’t need to keep performing. But as a person who loves the fans…If they want a rematch and proper financial terms are offered…I always try to please them (the fans)” , Jones told .
