Boxers must agree by May 2
World Boxing Organization (WBA) obligated WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk fight the mandatory contender for the association belt Daniel Dubois.
The parties have 30 days to agree on the details of the fight. Usyk and Dubois must complete negotiations by May 2.
It was previously reported that Usyk is in talks to fight Dubois to defend his WBA belt. The British team sent the Association medical confirmation that the boxer had recovered from the injury received in the last fight.
The Ukrainian was supposed to have a unification fight for the title of absolute world champion with Tyson Fury on April 29 at London’s Wembley Stadium. However, representatives of the Ukrainian said they had withdrawn from the negotiation process. According to Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, Fury’s team demanded too much, no matter how much Usyk compromised.
Dubois defeated Kevin Lerena in his last fight. Usyk re-dealt with Anthony Joshua and retained his world titles.
