On Tuesday, the UWW executive committee decided to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions, subject to IOC recommendations.
– The Russian Wrestling Federation is working, they are closer to the Olympic Committee. Either way, they will make a decision that will be accepted and supported. I really want not only the wrestlers to return to the big arena, but all of our wonderful sports under the wonderful banner of the Russian Federation and delight us with their performances,” Baroev told .
On March 28, the IOC announced recommendations on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual clearance, status neutrality, banning team sports, and banning athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the CWO. A decision on the Paris 2024 Olympics will be taken “at the appropriate time”, said the IOC.
