The head of the MMA Union of Russia, Radmir Gabdullin, said that in connection with the withdrawal of Russians from international competitions, the possibility of holding tournaments with the participation of athletes from friendly countries on the territory of Russia is in development.
The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) decided in early March to suspend membership of the Russian MMA Union due to the situation in Ukraine, Russian and Belarusian athletes cannot participate in all IMMAF championships in a foreseeable future.
– To date, the IMMAF has suspended membership in the MMA Union of Russia, but has not excluded it. We are thinking and have started to work smoothly on several projects with friendly countries, we have received approval from the Russian Ministry of Sports. We are now compiling a list of countries that are friends with us, are contacting them and in the near future we will announce several events on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Gabdullin said.
