Athletistic/ Boxing. Former boxer and boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya has explained why Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez made the mistake of agreeing to fight Russian Dmitry Bivol.
“Nobody knew who Bivol was before Canelo. He didn’t matter, he was nobody. Canelo’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, let him get beat, that was wrong. Canelo is a superstar and Hearn disrespected him when he let Bivol fight.” Hoya said.
The fight between Saul Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol took place on May 7, 2022. The Russian won by unanimous decision, taking the title of WBA World Super Champion.
