Malignaggi: Lomachenko would have destroyed Kambosos. And Haney became the absolute champion only because the Ukrainian was busy with the war

Lomachenko vs Haney will take place on May 20

Former World Champion Paul Malignaggi believes that Devin Haney only thanks to circumstances did he get a chance to become the undisputed lightweight champion, and then went into battle with the ex-champion in three divisions Vasily Lomachenko.

“Haney shouldn’t have gotten the Kambosos fight. It was Lomachenko’s fight. Vasily was supposed to fight Kambosos, but then the war started, and Haney got the fight with George.

“When you look at the work of Kambosos with the body, it is quite ordinary. Probably Vasily would have destroyed it. Devin became the undisputed champion only because Lomachenko was busy with the war.”

The Lomachenko-Haney fight will take place on May 20 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden. Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz in his last fight. Last October, Haney defeated George Kambosos again to retain the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles.
