2020 Olympics Silver Medalist Muslim Gadzhimagomedov said he confidently held the first fight at the World Championships.
On Friday in Tashkent, the captain of the national team, Gadzhimagomedov, by unanimous decision of the judges, defeated Frenchman Sokhe Bouafia and reached the 1/8 finals of the World Championship in the weight category up to 92 kg. In the next stage, the world champion and winner of the 2019 European Games on May 8 will face the Chinese Han Xuezhen.
– The first fight is always hard, especially since I have been waiting for several days to get into the ring. Because of the pause, it may be difficult to breathe at first. I was up against a good opponent, whom we have already met. And now the fight has gone according to my plan. I needed to enter the tournament. My task was to separate the enemy, keep him at a distance so that he struck more in the air, and then hit himself, ”the correspondent quoted Gadzhimagomedov as saying.
– In the second round, you fall at the same time as your opponent.
– He stepped on my foot, but we fell together (smile).
Later Friday, Imam Khataev (up to 80 kg) will play his 1/16 finals at the World Championships in Tashkent. The evening sessions will be broadcast on the Match! Fighter”, start – 3:55 p.m. Moscow time.
