The former world champion expressed his opinion on why he lost the title fight to the Russian back then.
Alexander Gvozdik made an assumption why in 2019 he lost his championship belt to Russian Artur Beterbiev.
According to the Ukrainian boxer, he was not ready for this fight. The Ukrainian especially did not like his physical condition.
“I don’t like to talk nonsense about other people, but I believe that I am not physically ready for this fight. Again, Teddy Atlas is a great trainer, but in this particular case I am not ready physically. I knew about it in the training camp. It was a problem that also affected me psychologically, because I knew I wouldn’t last until the end.
I can’t change my mind. I just can’t believe I can do something without being sure I can do it in the gym before the fight. If I can’t do it in the gym, how can I do it in the ring, right? This may be the problem. The preparation for this particular fight was not as good as I expected,” Gvozdyk told Boxing News.
Remember that tomorrow, May 6, Gvozdyk will fight Richard Bolotniks on the undercard of the fight between Saul Alvarez and John Ryder.
Earlier, the Ukrainian boxer told why he decided to return to professional boxing after a long break.
