russian boxer Imam Khataev said that he came to Tashkent for the world championships only for a gold medal.
On Friday in Tashkent, Khataev defeated Arzhan Iseni by unanimous decision and reached the 1/8 finals of the World Championship in the weight category up to 80 kg, at this stage Khataev will meet Christian Pinales from the Dominican Republic on May 9 .
– The first fight was hard, I was opposed by an uncomfortable opponent. The first and second rounds couldn’t “get involved”, there weren’t enough moves, but on the third I felt the ring and started to realize my plan. Today the opponent was good, uncomfortable, left-handed and sensitive, but we noticed how tired he was at the end of the fight. Our goal is the final and the gold of the World Championship. This is my first world championship in my career, twice I failed to enter the tournament. I am very happy that at the end of my career I managed to come. It’s good that people from all over the country are worried about me, and many flew to me in Tashkent. The local fans are also worried about me. I feel this support, I am happy,” the correspondent quoted Khataev as saying.
On Saturday, the 1/16 finals will be contested by Tarkhan Idigov (up to 67 kg, morning session) and Igor Sviridchenkov (up to 71 kg, evening session), and Gabil Mamedov (up to 63.5 kg , evening session) will perform in the 1/8 finals. Watch the live broadcast of all matches on May 6 on “Match! Fighter” (from 11:55 a.m. Moscow time and from 3:55 p.m. Moscow time, respectively).
