Promoter says WBC belt should be taken away from Jermall Charlo
Promoter Oscar De La Hoya believes that WBC should deprive American Jermall Charlo of the middleweight belt. The title should be played in the duel of the Ukrainian Sergei Derevyanchenko and mexican Jaime Mungii.
“Can anyone tell me why Jermall Charlo still holds the WBC belt after two years of inactivity? Wouldn’t it be better to finally make Munguia’s fight with Derevyanchenko a title fight?”
Sergey Derevyanchenko will fight Munguia on June 10th. The fight is scheduled in California (USA) and will take place at the Toyota Arena. The entire evening of boxing will be broadcast by the DAZN streaming service.
In the fall of 2021, Derevyanchenko planned a fight with Munguia and had to hold an auction. But the Mexican team refused to fight.
In the last fight in the summer of 2022, Derevyanchenko won on points against American Joshua Conley. By defeating Conley, Sergey interrupted a series of three defeats in a row. Before that, the Ukrainian lost to Gennady Golovkin, Jermall Charlo and Carlos Adames.
