Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk will have a second fight after his return, and two championship fights are waiting for us
On the night from Saturday to Sunday, from May 6th to 7th, a big boxing evening will take place in Guadalajara, the main event of which will be the fight of the absolute world champion in the super middleweight Saul Alvarez and Briton John Ryder. On the undercard of this fight, Alexander Gvozdyk. Sport Arena names three reasons why you should watch this boxing evening.
Bright show
The last time the world champion in four divisions and one of the best boxers in the world, regardless of weight categories, Saul Canelo Alvarez fought in Mexico 12.5 years ago. Then, in December 2010, Alvarez defeated Australian of South African origin Lovemore Ndu on points to win the vacant WBC Super junior middleweight title.
Needless to say, the Mexicans greeted the arrival of their idol and the main star of their sport with enthusiasm. All tickets for the Estadio Akron stadium, expanded on the occasion of such an event from 50 to 60 thousand seats, were sold out in a few days.
Second fight Gvozdika
Former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk from Ukraine will compete in the main undercard fights. Unlike the previous opponent of the Kharkiv resident, the obvious journeyman, the Mexican Josue Obando, now Alexander’s opponent is much more serious.
Latvian Richard Bolotniks had 26 fights in the professional ring. Won 19 of them, lost – in six, one fight ended in a draw. Bolotniks was the European champion, fought Joshua Buatsi.
In addition, it is interesting how Gvozdyk will look after working with one of the best coaches in the world – Saul Alvarez’s mentor – Eddie Reynoso.
cool card
In addition to the actual fights Alvarez – Ryder and Gvozdyk – Bolotniks, several more interesting fights will take place as part of the boxing evening in Guadalajara. One of them is a champion. Mexican WBC flyweight champion Julios Cesar Martinez will defend his title again. His opponent is an interesting Panamanian Ronal Batista. Note that for Martinez, the upcoming defense is already the sixth in his career.
Another Mexican boxer Gabriel Venezuela (26-3-1, 16 KOs) will try to take away the WBA Intercontinental Super Lightweight Championship belt from Australian Steve Spark (16-2, 14 KOs). Please note that the two boxers have 30 knockouts – an incredible figure for a super lightweight.
