IJF CEO backs decision to allow judokas from Russia and Belarus to World Championships in Qatar

International Judo Federation (IJF) chief executive Vlad Marinescu has defended the organization’s decision to allow individual athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete in the World Championships in Doha under a neutral flag.

Earlier it became known that two judokas from Belarus and 17 from Russia will perform at the World Championships.

“We found no evidence of CBO propaganda in any of the social networks among athletes. We also received certificates from the workplace showing that since 2020 they have been working at the Federal Sports Reserve training center.

Our job is only to bring people together, and according to the United Nations (UN) decision, we cannot discriminate against people based on their place of birth, origin, religion or any other aspect. The IJF is committed to judo, and we are here to unite people, we are a judo family, – quotes Marinescu Inside the Games.

The World Cup in Qatar will take place from May 7 to 14.
