Undefeated Russian boxer, WBA world light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol answered the call for a rematch of the undisputed world champion in the Mexican’s second middleweight Saul Alvarez noting that he sees no point in staging a fight in the same weight class.
Undisputed super middleweight champion Alvarez defeated Britain’s John Ryder by unanimous decision on Saturday in Mexico, who was knocked out in the fifth round. One judge did not give a single round to a boxer from Great Britain, the other two – only two. After the fight, Canelo reiterated his desire for a rematch with Bivol. These boxers met in May 2022, when the Russian turned out to be stronger.
– Why do I have to fight in the weight of 79 kg? What motivation can I have if I have already beaten him in this weight class. I think he should think about the weight class up to 76 kg, because he will have more chances, and I should have some kind of motivation and challenge. We don’t have to worry about who thinks what,” ESPN reporter Michael Coppinger said, quoting Bivol on his social media.
Alvarez has 59 wins in the professional ring, two losses and two draws. The undefeated Bivol has 21 wins.
