On Saturday night, the 11th, Glover Teixeira was surprised at the end and ended up submitted by Jiri Prochazka in his first title defense, in the main event of UFC 275, in Singapore. After a bloody battle, in which he showed a lot of resilience, the Brazilian ended up falling behind on the ground and was submitted by the Czech with less than 30 seconds to go.
The victory gave Prochazka the UFC light heavyweight belt. The Czech arrived as Glover’s challenger after confirming his third victory in the UFC, all via the fast lane. The 42-year-old Brazilian lost the title in his first defense in the division. In a conversation with Cormier while still in the Octagon, Teixeira stated that he had a difficult weight cut and that he felt the blows in his waist, getting tired throughout the match.

Cormier advises Glover Teixeira
Former division champion Daniel Cormier advised Glover Teixeira to rethink his possible retirement. This Saturday’s fight could mark the Brazilian’s last performance for Ultimate. At 42 years old, the champion did not rule out the chance to end his career after his first belt defense.

“I’m going to say one thing and I don’t mean to disrespect anyone in the division, but I look at the light heavyweights now and if I’m in I would keep driving because the reality is you never know what’s going to happen. I spoke to Jiri (Prochazka) earlier: from 2009 to 2020, either me or Jon Jones had the belt. It was six or seven years with Jon Jones and four years with me. Nobody else touched the belt. Now they are passing to each other. There is no Jon Jones or Daniel Cormier in that weight division with Glover Teixeira right now.”said Cormier in an interview with “MMA Junkie”.
