ACA vice-president Aslanbek Badaev told RB Sport why Movsar Evloyev after seven UFC victories, he is not yet in the top 5 and among the contenders for the belt, noting that it all depends on the style of the Russian.
Evloev on Sunday night at the UFC 288 tournament in Newark (USA) beat Brazilian Diego Lopez by unanimous decision.
– It’s all about style. He wins by decisions, wins work, there is no punchline. It is clear that we support him, we are interested in him. But we are talking about the global MMA community – how the public perceives it, how it is rated. It is difficult to remember this style. It’s cool that he started giving interviews in English, the skirmishes with Topuria are cool too. But in the style itself there is no zest.
He’s an all-rounder who breathes well, is flexible, puts pressure on constantly – a good, balanced fighter who works for the result, but there’s no show, and it’s hard without it. For example, Zabit Magomedsharipov had a spectacular style and a memorable appearance – let’s go, they talked about him. Movsar doesn’t have a spectacular style, and not saying it comes in terms of charisma is also a problem. He either has to develop high-profile storylines, like with Topuria, or find a way to end the fights earlier than expected and in a big way. We won’t praise Evloev, but we shouldn’t criticize strongly either. He won a union victory and did what he had to do,” Badaev said.
In mixed martial arts, Evloev, 29, has won 17 times in 17 fights.
