Wladimir Klitschko: I never dreamed that I would be in the International Boxing Hall of Fame

The legendary boxer was unable to attend the ceremony due to the war in Ukraine

Former World Heavyweight Champion Vladimir Klichko commented on his inclusion in International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Klitschko’s induction ceremony for the Boxing Hall of Fame took place on June 11, but Wladimir was unable to attend due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Thank you to the fans and organizers for the recognition. I remember when I started my boxing journey at 14, I used it as a travel tool at a very young age. I never dreamed that I would go this far in this sport, especially since I would be among all these respected champions in the International Boxing Hall of Fame. It’s amazing, it’s a great honor,” Klitschko said in a video message on Instagram.

“Unfortunately, Russian aggression in my home country and the war prevented me from personally attending this ceremony with you. This war has changed not only me, but the whole world.”

Klitschko held the WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO and The Ring heavyweight championships in 2011-15. The Ukrainian held his last fight in 2017, losing to Anthony Joshua.
