Teofimo Lopez Sr: I bet on Lomachenko to win by unanimous decision

Ukrainian May 20 will fight with Devin Haney

Teofimo Lopez Sr.father and coach of former undisputed lightweight world champion Teofimo Lopezcommented on the upcoming fight between the undisputed lightweight champion of the world Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) and former three-weight champion Vasily Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs).

“The only reason Haney agreed to this fight is because this is not the same Lomachenko that we fought. We fought the best Loma. Probably now Haney sees his weaknesses. They went for it but you never know. Maybe Lomachenko will be too fast.”

“I don’t want to give any clues, but I’ll give you one anyway. Maybe you will understand it or not. Thanks to this, I became the best coach in 2020. I’m the only one who solved the riddle of how to beat Lomachenko. If he finds his corners, he will completely win this fight.”

“People tried to do what Devin Haney would try to do. They tried to outbox the boxer, outbox the fucking Matrix. Lomachenko is called “The Matrix” for a reason. He’s not the same “Matrix” he used to be, but he’s enough to beat up Haney. I’m betting on Lomachenko to win by unanimous decision.”

The fight between Lomachenko and Haney will take place on May 20 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden and will be broadcast on the PPV system on ESPN+.

More than 13,000 tickets have been sold for the planned duel between Devin and Vasily. At the same time, the central sectors and seats near the ringside were practically bought out: tickets there were sold at prices ranging from 304 to 2,000 dollars.

There are no plans to broadcast the fight in Ukraine yet. The MEGOGO service, which previously broadcast Lomachenko’s fights, and also acts as the official broadcaster of Oleksandr Usyk’s fights, refused to show the Lomachenko-Haney fight.

Vasily in his last fight defeated the American Jemaine Ortiz. For the Ukrainian, this was the first and only fight for 10 months.

Haney defeated George Kambosos again last October to retain the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles.
