The former world champion in three weight categories shared his memories of losing the fight to Lopez.

Vasily Lomachenko believes that defeating Teofimo Lopez had a very positive effect on him. According to the Ukrainian boxer, this must have happened, because before that he had a huge ego and wanted to conquer the world.

But, according to the former world champion in three weight classes, now he has changed.

“I lost three belts, I lost the fight with Lopez. But I won a little more than these three belts. It was very good for me. Now I understand. Now I have started a new life as a different person.

Before that, I was someone who wanted to conquer the world. Inside, my ego is very big. Many did not notice it, but after this defeat, I saw myself and from that moment began to change. Everything has its time. Maybe it’s not my time,” Lomachenko said in the documentary Blood, Sweat & Tears: Haney vs Lomachenko.

It will be remembered that the Ukrainian lost to Lopez by unanimous decision in October 2020. This fight is for the title of absolute world champion in lightweight.

Earlier, Lomachenko spoke about refusing to fight Kambosos due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
