Russian national team head coach Viktor Farkhutdinov says the team’s boxers won’t just reach the semi-finals of the world championship.
On Wednesday, the quarter-finals of the World Championship took place in Tashkent. Eight Russian boxers reached this stage, six managed to reach the semi-finals and secure bronze medals. Will compete to reach the final on May 12 Edmond Khudoyan (up to 48 kg), Dmitry Dvali (up to 54 kg), Vsevolod Shumkov (up to 60 kg), Sharabutdin Ataev (up to 86 kg), Imam Khataev (up to 80 kg) and Muslim Gadzhimagomedov (up to 92 kg). Igor Sviridchenkov (up to 71 kg) and Tarkhan Idigov (up to 67 kg) did not reach the semifinals.
– The day was very difficult, but six boxers reached the semi-finals of the World Championship. We still have to work hard to do well on Friday. Six people guaranteed themselves medals – that’s not bad, but we won’t stop there, we have to think, get the best result and move on. All guys should try to reach the final. This is the next step. And all our boxers are able to reach the final, – the correspondent reports Farkhutdinov’s words.
