Tyson is still looking for an opponent for the summer fight
Promoter Frank Warren told what options for the fight this summer the WBC champion has Tyson Fury.
“I want to get Fury to fight this summer, no matter what happens, get him back in the thick of it. It’s just a damn shame that we spent so much time fighting Usyk.”
“The problem is that all the people we wanted are already fighting. Zhilei has a rematch with Joyce. Therefore, we need to wait and see which one of them wins. Busy and Dubois. We have to see who’s available.”
“We’re getting close to summer, that’s part of the problem, but we’re going to get Fury in the ring.”
Earlier, Top Rank head Bob Arum said interim WBO heavyweight champion Zhang Zhilei is a prime candidate to fight Fury this summer. There was also information that Fury began negotiations with Zhilei about holding the fight.
Fury’s fight against the Chinese is in doubt because British heavyweight Joe Joyce has activated a rematch clause with Zhilei. Recall that Joyce lost by TKO to Zhilei and lost the interim WBO heavyweight title.
Fury has announced a return to the ring and a new fight in the near future. Fury’s next opponent could also be ex-champion Andy Ruiz.
