Lebedev hopes Beterbiev’s knockout streak will continue against Smith

Famous Russian boxer Denis Lebedev believes that Arthur Beterbiev will extend his knockout streak against Joe Smith Jr if he is in good shape.

The unification bout between Beterbiev and Smith will take place on June 18 in New York City.

– Can Beterbiev extend the streak of knockout victories?

“Depending on Beterbiev’s hunger, considering his style,” Lebedev told Sport24. – I think Arthur will come out with the same attitude. If he is fit, hungry for fights, then, most likely, history will repeat itself.

I would like to believe that the knockout streak will continue. Beterbiev has very nasty, stinging shots. It’s like in a video game – with each hit a part of life is removed and in the end the fight ends earlier than expected. Kudos for ours!

Beterbiev has 17 fights and 17 knockout wins, Smith Jr. has 31 fights (28 wins and three losses). In March 2019, Smith lost the current WBA (Super) light heavyweight champion to fellow Russian Dmitry Bivol via unanimous decision. And in April 2021, Smith defeated Vlasov by a majority decision of the judges in a duel for the vacant belt.
