For most of his sports career, the 34-year-old Shtyrkov played in MMA (22-2-1), and on March 7, 2023, he made his boxing debut in a duel with Magomed Ismailov. In March this year, speaking to , Shtyrkov said he would not accept the fight with Datsik, calling the organization of the fight “something impossible”.
Datsik has had 13 professional MMA fights, as well as several fights under boxing rules and hybrid rules with varying number of rounds and glove sizes.
– On the rules that his team proposed, I said that I would not fight. There are different sports: cam, boxing, kickboxing. I accept these rules. And what the Datsik leaders persuaded us to do was something like “three rounds of three minutes each with little gloves”; “Barefoot boxing in a cage”… I will never bring such filth to the RCC. There is something more valuable than hype, media, money. I’m definitely not going to the RCC with this shit.
What about standard rules?
– Yes, if you chose the normal sport, please. Cam, three rounds of two minutes, let’s go. Boxing. More than four rounds – let’s go. Kickboxing with arms and legs – go for it. There is MMA, three rounds of five minutes. Everything else is crap that doesn’t need to be developed.
– We asked you in March about the fight with Datsik and you said: “It’s vomit.” What has changed in two months?
– I knew what rules he was fighting and what fighting was like with him. I meant the rules for these matchups I’ve seen: MMA with Monson 3×3, something like that. I always say the same thing now, I could accept a fight with Datsik now, but under the normal rules.
– Now, you offered something to the Datsik team?
– I told them: three rounds of five minutes, MMA. We have an MMA tournament. They said no. I suggested they do kickboxing. They didn’t agree on either sport. And they came up with that,” Shtyrkov told .
Shtyrkov’s next fight will be in the RCC league under kickboxing rules against Petr Romankevich.
