russian boxer Imam Khataev said that at the World Championships in Tashkent he was counting on more than a bronze medal.
On Friday in Tashkent, Khataev lost to Nurbek Oralbay (Kazakhstan) in the semifinals in the weight category up to 80 kg by a split decision of the judges and became the bronze medalist.
– It’s a sport, and there will always be wins or losses. I’m moving on, no matter how life turns, today I tried really hard and wanted to win, I gave my best. It is impossible to put into words what the athletes go through and how hard we work in training to become the first. Today, it turns out that I did not manage to win. Bronze? I didn’t come here for this, but it didn’t work. We should always be satisfied and move on, – the correspondent reports Ataev’s words.
Two Russians reached the final – Sharabudtin Ataev (up to 86 kg) and Muslim Gadzhimagomedov (up to 92 kg). Bronze medals, in addition to Khataev, were won by Edmond Khudoyan (up to 48 kg), Vsevolod Shumkov (up to 60 kg), Dmitry Dvali (up to 54 kg).
The final matches with the participation of the Russians will take place on Saturday, watch the live broadcast on “Match! Fighter,” starting at 2:55 p.m. Moscow time.
