Tishchenko called the performance of Russian boxers at the Tashkent World Championship a success

Double Olympic boxing champion Alexei Tishchenko considers the performance of Russian boxers at the World Championship in Tashkent a success.

At the World Championships, which ended in Tashkent on Sunday, the Russian team won six medals (two gold and four bronze) and took third place overall. Competitions were held in 13 weight categories.

– Considering the widespread suspension of our athletes on the world stage, the performance of our boxers at the World Championships in Tashkent can certainly be called a success. First of all, the IBA made a significant contribution to this event, which allowed our guys to participate with a flag and an anthem and defended their rights as athletes.

It was nice to be in the stands, cheering and hearing the Russian anthem in the World Cup final for the first time in a long time. It’s very cool, – said Tishchenko RT.

According to the decision of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Russian and Belarusian athletes participated in the tournament using national symbols. The World Cup prize fund was $5.2 million. The boxers received $200,000 for the win, $100,000 for silver and $50,000 for bronze.
