Ukrainian boxer Vasily Lomachenko broke down in tears after losing to U.S. Representative Devin Haney in a boxing tournament in Las Vegas.
After the fight, Lomachenko covered his face with his hands in the room under the bleachers and started crying. Video of the episode was posted by Top Rank Boxing’s Twitter account.
The fight lasted all 12 rounds and ended with the American winning by unanimous decision. Immediately after the decision was announced, Las Vegas fans buzzed with disapproval, Haney struggled to give in-ring interviews. According to the statistics of the fight, Lomachenko “threw” significantly more blows (564 against 405), the two-time Olympic champion was also in the lead in terms of the number of hits (124 against 110).
Haney retained his WBC, WBO, IBF, WBA (Super) and The Ring world titles. Lomachenko suffered the third loss of his career with 17 wins (11 by KO).
