Most of the judges gave the Ukrainian only five rounds
The referee’s notes of the fight for the title of absolute world champion in lightweight between the ex-world champion in three weight categories became known Vasily Lomachenko and the owner of WBC/WBA/WBO/IBF belts Devin Haney. The fight lasted all the allotted 12 rounds, following which three judges gave the victory to the American – 116:114, 115:113, 115:113.
According to the official referee’s notes, the Ukrainian had an indisputable advantage, when at least two of the three judges gave him victory, in five rounds: at the start of the fight and at the end. Two of the three referees gave Vasily the second, third, eighth, tenth and 11th rounds. The rest were taken by Haney.
Lomachenko fought his 20th fight in the professional ring and suffered his third defeat in his career. Undefeated Haney won his 30th fight and defended the undisputed lightweight title of the world champion.
