In the spring of 2022, Vasily refused to fight with the Australian due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine
Former World Lightweight Champion George Kambosos once again expressed a desire to fight with the ex-world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
“I think Lomachenko has a big stadium fight in Australia against Kambosos, as originally planned. But let’s let him recover and return to Ukraine. So I pray for Ukraine. We have what we have,” Kambosos said.
Kambosos has not entered the ring since October 2022, when he lost to Devin Haney for the second time and failed to regain the championship titles.
Today Lomachenko lost to Haney in a duel for the undisputed world lightweight champion title. According to the results of 12 rounds, the judges gave the victory to the American champion: 116:114, 115:113, 115:113.
Lomachenko was the main contender for the fight against Kambosos in 2022, but Vasyl pulled out of the fight and stayed in Ukraine to defend his country from Russian military aggression.
